Summary: The objective of this thesis, based on an exploratory investigation, is to analyze the role of the cooperative property in the cuban socialist transition process, with special emphasis on the period following the 6th Congress of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC), held in April of 2011, in which resolutions include the approval of the document 'Lineamientos de la política económica y social del partido y la revolución', which admits, for the first time in the period after the victory of the Revolution in 1959, the organization of production and service non-agricultural cooperatives. We held a debate on the categories of property, appropriation and socialist transition to support the discussion of the Cuban concrete case. Then, based on bibliographic and documentary research, the experience of implementing non-agricultural cooperatives (2013-2019) is analyzed in the course of the process of updating the Cuban economic and social model. We conclude that the cooperative property is adequate and should be used as a way of organizing production and work in socialist transition processes based on the heterogeneity of property forms. Cooperatives, with their peculiar organizational practices, mainly self-management, tend to build production relations that are more socialized than private property and allow workers more autonomy and motivation in relation to state property. However, as with any historical process, there are contradictions. The experience of Cuban non-agricultural cooperatives has also presented problems and, in fact, for such organizations to boost the construction of socialism, these deviations have been corrected since 2017.
