Syllabus: The discipline consists of theories of land rent in political economy; the classical ways of development of agriculture in industrial capitalism; the introduction to the agrarian question in dependent capitalism in an overview of the history of pre-Columbian America's modes of production and the development of mercantile capitalism in colonial agriculture; the contemporary agrarian question, the environmental question and the social movements fighting for and on Latin American land; and patriarchal gender relations in the field, dependence and overexploitation in Latin America.
