Summary: The objective of this study was to understand the work of social workers, their duties and competencies in the work processes of the Center for Confronting Gender Violence in Defense of Women's Rights, a body of the Public Ministry of the State of
Espírito Santo, developed in the confront of violence against women in order to understand the particularity of professional work within the scope of collective work processes in this Center. Therefore, the historical-dialectic materialist method was
adopted in the construction of this study, to assist in understanding reality based on successive approximations requiring active participation from the researcher. In order to better organize and understand the empirical reality, qualitative research was carried out, of an exploratory nature, aiming to approach the socio-legal field using bibliographic and documentary research. The results of the investigations showed that the management of the social worker's labor aims to extrapolate legal impositions by producing consensus, agreements and knowledge about reality, aiming, consequently and depending on the correlation of forces, to meet the needs of women. It was identified that it is in professional action within municipal networks to confront violence against women that the labor of Social Work has been consolidated, articulating and highlighting the instrumental, technical, political, pedagogical and intellectual dimensions. Furthermore, the need to improve monitoring work on budgetary investments in policies for women in the State of Espírito was highlighted.
