ANTI-PROHIBITIONISM AND ANTI-RACISM IN BRAZIL: DIMENSIONS OF TRANSFORMATIVE PRAXIS

Summary: The research consists of analyzing the relationship between anti-prohibitionism and antiracism in Brazil, based on the assumption that drug prohibitionism in this territory is historically articulated with racism as a mechanism of state control, criminalization, and inferiorization of the Black population. This constitutes an important element for the reproduction of dependent Brazilian capitalism and operates in dynamic functional particularities that enable the overexploitation of labor power in the country. The Brazilian social formation and the Anti-Prohibitionist Struggle are analyzed in their convergences and
divergences from the Anti-Racist struggle. The analysis stems from the Brazilian social formation, focusing on the transition period from enslaved labor to free wage labor, highlighting the ruptures and continuities of the slave-based mode of production within the current stage of dependent Brazilian capitalism. Reflections drawn from the AntiProhibitionist Movement in Brazil and its relationship with Anti-Racism focus on recent years (2000 to 2025), considering elements present in debates by other authors. The objective of the research is to grasp the relationship between Anti-Racism and Anti-Prohibitionism in Brazil, aiming to identify theoretical elements that support this mediation for its strengthening. This is a qualitative bibliographical and documentary research grounded in the historicaldialectical materialist method and Clovis Moura's perspective, articulated with a critical
reflection on the author's insertion in spaces of activism and political organization. The study dialogues with the Marxist tradition, with authors who discuss the Brazilian social formation, and the critical field of drug policy. The analysis turns toward strengthening AntiProhibitionist ethics and political organization. The results highlight the inseparability of Anti-Prohibitionism and Anti-Racism within the context of Brazilian social formation, considering them as dimensions of a transformative praxis. It concludes that strengthening the Brazilian Anti-Prohibitionist movement requires its organic articulation with the Anti-Racist
struggle and a class political project capable of confronting the structural determinations of dependent Brazilian capitalism, as well as affirming Anti-Prohibitionism as an ethic, an antiracist practice, and a constitutive element of the horizon of social transformation.
