ANALYSIS OF THE PRODUCTIONS OF SOCIAL WORKERS AT THE BRAZILIAN CONGRESS OF SOCIAL WORKERS,
PERMEATED BY THE DEBATE ON SOCIAL RELATIONS OF SEX/GENDER, RACE, AND CLASS IN SOCIAL ASSISTANCE POLICY

Summary: This research, linked to the Postgraduate Program in Social Policy at the
Federal University of Espírito Santo - UFES, aims to present an analysis of
the productions of social workers based on the proceedings of the last 10
(ten) years of the Brazilian Congress of Social Workers - CBAS, with social
assistance policy as a backdrop. It is a qualitative research study in which
we mapped and analyzed the production of the professional category at the
national level, focusing on productions that, given the theme, present an
analysis of social relations of sex/gender, race, and class. We begin with an
exposition on social assistance policy and the changes in family
configurations over the years, relating the debates and thus presenting what
we understand as the place of the family in social policy. Following this, we
discuss authors who problematize the importance of the consubstantiality of
the categories of gender, class, and race in social assistance policy.
Finally, through bibliographic research, we analyzed the productions of the
professional category presented at the CBAS in the years 2016, 2019, and
2022. Articles that discuss social assistance policy and that present at
least one or more of the categories were analyzed. In our collection, we
initially identified 38 (thirty-eight) articles, 28 (twenty-eight) of which
refer to social assistance policy and 10 (ten) articles that present the
intersectionality of social relations of sex/gender, race, and class.
Regarding the articles, we perceived that the professional category and other
researchers are able to analyze social policy, but they do not advance in the
understanding and debate of the intersectionality of social relations of
sex/gender, race, and class. Regarding the articles analyzed, most are linked
to public universities; we highlight that the campaigns of the CFESS/CRESS
and ABEPSS group contributed to the increase in debates, mainly related to
the racial issue.
